Good afternoon. I am new to this site and was hoping to get some advice or recommendations. I'll start from the beginning. 8 months ago I was on a cruise ship when I had a full blown vertigo episode. It was my 3rd BPPV episode in the last 7 years, and I was able to perform the maneuvers to alleviate the vertigo. Since that exact moment I have not felt the same. My symptoms have been ongoing since that day. I have a strange disequilibrium feeling in my head that is a mixture of dizziness and light-headedness. I have had every test possible performed, including full blood work, sinus scan, vestibular testing, balance tests, EEG, CTA of neck and brain, MRI of the brain, 2 different ENT's, etc. I have tried steroids, sinus and migraine meds, and am currently on a very low dose of Lexapro. 5 mg for the last 9 weeks. I am only currently on Lexapro. I am ultra sensitive to medication and this one seems to make me either very tired or very hungry, but has not done much for my head symptoms. I have an appointment with a dizziness/balance specialist in 3 weeks. I have been on many message boards and forums and it seems PPPD aligns with my issues. I am usually fine when lying down, can sleep fine, but when I am standing in one place, or any type of head movement, or in a large box store, or where there is bountiful florescent lighting, my symptoms get worse. They also are exacerbated when drinking alcohol, which I have stayed away from for these 8 months. These adverse feelings in my head do not cause me to fall, or trip, but they seems to come and go throughout the day. Movement in general seems to effect me negatively. I seem to be more sensitive when I ride rather than drive, when I am in stop and go traffic, when I take my dogs for a walk and they pull on the leash and I lunge, when I have to turn my head to the side suddenly, when I golf, when I read for awhile on computer.....all seem to bring on my symptoms. Sorry for being so long winded but this has been my life for 8 months now. Anybody else experience these issues and been diagnosed with PPPD? Any suggestions as far as VBRT? Thanks for listening. Mark

Mark In my heart I truly believe that this is a form of the brain recalling the dizziness, keeping it in our thoughts and then we react with panic, fear, worry or plain aggravation. It's no different than recalling something from a smell, song, etc. The brain records and stores the information and how we react to it. I believe it's the fear that just keeps it there, followed with the thoughts of why. It becomes all consuming.
