Hi everyone,
I am glad to have found this group (it's very active on FB and seems well researched) after a bit over 2 years of having 3PD.
I was working as an respiratory therapist in a hospital when it all started quite suddenly with general weakness, dizziness and feeling like I was going to fall down constantly. It was initially thought to be a inner ear infection but when the symptoms didn't get better after 6 weeks more in depth testing was done.
I was very lucky in the fact that my mother worked with the organisation responsible for certification of doctors, surgeons and specialists across the country and thus was able to see neurologists, surgeons and ENT specialists very quickly. Funnily enough, it was my aunt (a Physiotherapist) who ended up finding out about 3PD and who brought it to our attention. I was able to start Vestibular Rehabilitation Therapy with a specialized PT quickly, even before getting an official diagnosis.
I did a full year of VRT before stopping due to having plateaud and have recently restarted VRT after a sudden increase in symptoms to the point of causing insomnia.
I have tried several SSRI and SNRI but I seem to be intolerant to those.
In general, my symptoms are as follows:
-Constant instability when walking, moving. (everything feels just a bit off/not where it should be)
-Almost daily migraines after trying to return to school (Sept 2017)
-Nausea
-Limited energy and limited tolerance to movement
-Acute dizziness and vertigo spells (seems random, can be triggered by certain visual environment but not always, chance of it increase the more tired I am)
-Increase in dizziness and vertigo when attempting to do something requiring anything more than minimal amount of concentration
-Rocking sensation, feeling like someone is pushing/pulling me, slow turning of the room, feeling like the world is on an angle. (All of these seems random and change daily)
-Trouble with depth perception
-Trouble with reading, concentrating and understanding speech in any situation more than one on one.
I'm sure I'm forgetting a few as well but these are the most common ones I deal with. For me the worst thing is how erratic my symptoms seem to be, I never know what I'll be dealing with in a day. I try to keep as active as I can, walking on a treadmill for a min of 30 min through out a day and being careful with my nutrition but at this point my symptoms have not improved and have rather become worse.
Has anyone else dealt with this sudden change in symptoms? Does anyone else have such erratic symptoms? If so how do you manage it?
Thank you for your time,Shiary.
