Feb. 2, 2015. Just back from an appointment with the ENT and Neuro. My MRI had white matter and something flagged in my temporal lobe. For now they are treating me for vestibular migraines until I get vestibular testing in four weeks...the ENT thinks my problem is CNS rather than peripheral and that I was initially mis-diagnosed with VN but we'll know for sure soon. The neuro ordered another MRI in 6 months, I will be starting Effexor right away and getting off my Lorazepam. I've also been referred to an eye doctor with a strong knowledge of neurology.
Not fun seeing your brain on a big screen with spots I can tell you that.
But I have to say the specialists were great today, really helpful. Feeling pretty freaked out, but we'll see if the meds do anything.

At least now , they're closer to zeroing in on what's on, and more importantly on how to treat it..
Were they able to link all this to those events which seemed to trigger all of this, those ear cleanings back in the Fall of 2014? Seemed those events were more peripheral than central
Best wishes with the Effexor.

He thinks there's something happening in the brain...we'll see what that testing says.

Feb. 9, 2015. My eye doctor found a blind spot in my right eye. The neurologist called today and they're sending me for a Visual Evoked Potential. Waiting to hear back when. The eye doctor threw out MS as a possibility. This led of course to severe anxiety.
Effexor has been interesting. I definitely rock less, headaches have been up and down. I don't feel dizzy as often. Although I do feel like of like my body is twisted and my eyes are in the wrong place. I had two really good days on it. The scariest event occurred when I tried a Triptan to calm a headache and my eyes dilated like crazy. I have an appointment with my GP to discuss tonight. Another day, another appointment. Still no relief.

Just keep reminding yourself that MS is rare and migraine very common. Also, it seems from the link to Dr Hains site you had posted at the FB group, that quite a few controls (2-14%) have such white spots, which I take it to mean they're just kinda there and don't signify much ..
Interesting that the Effexor had positive effects so quickly. So regardless of how they end up calling the Dx in the long run, this might be helpful med for you. Thanks for keeping us all posted

So, the Effexor is helping with the dizziness?

So, the Effexor is helping with the dizziness? So far so good except for issues with my pupils dilating. Haven't been head dizzy on it. Less head aches so far and less disorientation. I've been pacing my activities a lot and am taking a VRT break until my head aches are in check. It definitely makes me sleep a lot but I welcome that over painful headaches. Started wearing sunglasses 24:/7 and it's helped too.
